What is Google Adsense?

If you look at the Internet a few years back, you'll see that ads are done in a way that is very similar to other types of media like television, or actually, more like the ones you see in newspapers.

You will enter a site, and in some locations you can see banners (often quite large and very large), which will be there and ads for paid companies added to your place.

But there is one problem with this ad type. It really does not take advantage of the fact that additions do not exist in some newspapers, but are presented over the Internet.

You may have noticed many things like this from the pages you have visited. You look around the on-line store, look for watches but you get banners that advertise cars.

While you may, moments later want to buy a car, now you are looking for a watch and it would be nice if the banners advertise watches, because you might click on them.

Well, that's what people think on Google, so they find the killer idea. This is known as Google AdSense, and it's known as a targeted advertising program

What you do (as a web designer / website owner) is, instead of jumping through an obstacle to getting some banners on your site so your visitors do not even care if you're only allocating a portion of the screen area.

You then log into the Google AdSense program, you enter a little code on your web page and Google ensures that in the location you specify, a banner will appear, presenting to add content that is relevant to the content of your site.

It's easy for Google to do this because Google is a search engine company. It searches for keywords on your page, searches the site's database to find anything related to anything on your page and presto: targeted ads.

You (the webmaster) get paid for each visitor who clicks the adsense banner on your site. Well, that's bound to happen more often with traditional banners because people are really interested in what's on the banner (otherwise they will not be on your page?).

But, this also makes a miracle for people who want to advertise. And it's for the same reason. The biggest thing about Google AdSense is that all the content on the banner is relevant.

This relevance is the key to the success of the program, and also the reason why everyone remains happy. Advertisers have ads with good placements, publishers make money from their content and Google takes the snippet.

Of course, as always, Google has set some high standards for its AdSense program, in terms of look and functionality. You can not have more than two such banners on your website and Google just inserts text in this banner.

So the added benefit is AdSense ads are much more prominent than regular advertisements. But this also means you should position the banner better because the visitors may not miss it at all.

So in the end, Google AdSense is a unique advertising program because its ads match the content on the site. Anyone who wants to advertise pays Google for it. Anyone who wants to place ads on their sites does this through AdSense, paid by Google in the process.

All transactions are run through Google, and advertisers and publishers gain access to statistics that help them understand and moderate the effectiveness of their campaigns.

The whole process is elegant, simple and effective from anyone in the chain, from site visitors to advertisers, and this is one of the reasons Google is known for their innovation and new thinking.
